My scheme of the week, an extension to a semi situated next to to the Castlereagh Road in Belfast.
I was asked by my Clients to help them extend their home, maximise their land, rather than having to move home. For such a typical Belfast semi nothing about their gardens is typical. The rear garden offering tremendous space, sweeping down to a backdrop of parkland with an array of beautiful mature trees and sky. It would have been very difficult for them to find another home quite like this one but they did need more internal space.
Best solution, no brainer - extend!
I was asked to incorporate an open plan Kitchen / Family / Dining Room. Also it was important to provide a downstairs WC and a separate room which would become a study / office. This large open plan room will provide great space and the inclusion of a wood burning stove will enhance the enjoyment of spending time in this room.
The Proposed Elevations show the large set of sliding double glazed doors onto the patio and spacious window in the kitchen area. Both providing the glazed areas needed to maximise those views. The contemporary design of the extension will also compliment the traditional nature of this home.
The Proposed Side Elevation shows the additional slot windows and the inclusion of a curved rooflight will flood the new areas with natural light. The extended patio area to the rear with it's fabulous views will provide a great space for barbecuing!
