I was delighted when Planning Permission was granted for this extension.

Now, a Building Control Application has been submitted to Ards and North Down Borough Council. This means construction can begin on-site, bringing my designs to life.

This project involves a rear single-storey extension to a former manse in County Down. The plans feature a natural slate mono-pitch roof with Velux rooflights, sand and cement rendered walls painted in a natural color, and traditional hardwood/sliding sash windows. All these elements are designed to complement this beautiful historic home, just as my client requested.

My client's wish list was as follows:

  1. Demolition of existing rear return.

  2. New single-storey extension enlarging the kitchen area to provide a dining room.

  3. Provide ground floor cloakroom and ground floor WC.

  4. Replace a rear triangular window on the first floor with a sliding sash window.

  5. Traditional styles throughout to complement the existing dwelling.

  6. Velux rooflights to flood the new areas with natural light.

  7. Renew existing kitchen and fit a new gable window.
